A group of men have died after taking the drug Viagra after tests found it could affect a man’s sexual performance. One was given an unknown amount of Viagra and a blood test revealed the drug could potentially affect a man’s sexual performance. It is believed the men were taking a prescription for Viagra.
The group of men were aged 45 and were given an unknown amount of Viagra. Their doctor has confirmed Viagra can affect a man’s sexual performance. They have been told the drug may cause erectile dysfunction.
The men’s deaths occurred in the Southomers area of London.
A spokesman for the London-based Sexual Health Forum says: “There is not enough information to make any medical decisions on Viagra use, and as with any medication, it is not a controlled substance.
“It is possible that Viagra could cause erectile dysfunction but it is not known if it is related to the drug or if it is something that should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted if there are other factors that may be affecting the man’s sexual response.”
Dr Adam Bernstein, clinical director of Sexual Health Forum, says: “We are still investigating the full extent of the risk and the potential consequences of taking Viagra on sexual performance.
“We are continuing to monitor the safety profile of Viagra and will update you with any further information as soon as possible.”
